"A JGTC dream, visualized"
I've had a recent obsession with 90's JGTC racecars, and i was thinking that it’s a shame mitsubishi never used the evo in any JGTC classes. So, i thought why not give it a go myself. And here it is, the GT500 EVO, on TURN-14 of the Suzuka Circuit in the Mie prefecture, japan.
The car is based on the evo 5 chassis, with its whole outer shell reworked for aero and regulations. The wider body, hood, front end, rear end and pretty much everything has been reworked for its racing needs. Up front in the interior is the drivers cockpit along with all his instrument panels, and the rear is the fuel cell with all the refuelling system. The car also sits on some 6 spoke Enkei wheels that were inspired by the evo 8 wheels. And ofcourse, the marlboro livery as the cherry on top.
This project was a pretty good excuse to stare at and research 90's JGTC cars for a month, and i gotta say, every single one is more attractive than the last. As for the evo, i'd say it came out pretty good and blends in with the looks of the irl cars pretty nicely. The project was also a good practice with liveries, since i wasn't very good with that before.
